Greene County marks the southwestern border of the Capital Region. It is one of the two southernmost counties and lies on the western bank of the Hudson River. I-87 runs vertically through the east side of the county. Greene County is best known for being home to the Catskill Mountains, which occupy much of the central, south, and western portions of the county.
